Birla Planetarium - Chennai

The most modern planetarium located at Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu is the Birla Planetarium housed inside the Periyar Science and Technology Center. The perforated inner dome made of aluminium metal is used to conduct the virtual tour of the night sky and the cosmic shows.

Specialty

Sky shows are conducted during different times in different languages. The campus also offers courses on night-sky observations and astronomy.

The campus is located in the “Green Lungs of Chennai”, the Kotturpuram area. The airconditioned auditorium is capable of accommodating around 240 people.

A 360 degree sky theatre, first of kind in the country is established in this campus.

Birla Planetarium is acclaimed to be the most modern planetarium in the country housed with equipment made with most modern technologies.
