This temple is also known as Panchavati Kshetram that is situated 12 km away from Pondicherry and invites many devotees every day. One of the prominent features of this temple is the idol of Lord Hanuman which is very famous and is considered as the world’s second largest Hanuman idol in the world which is 36 feet tall and appears on a lotus base. The architecture of Panchavati Anjaneya Temple is very impressive as it features 64 feet tall vimaanam over the sanctum sanctorum which is the main attraction of the temple. There are beautiful paintings of the incidents of Ramayana story which are depicted on the top of the walls and besides the Panchamukha Sri Anjaneyaswamy Sanctum. In addition to the main temple, there are two more temples. The first one is was dedicated to Jayamangala Valampuri Maha Ganapathy. Here Lord Rama appears to his devotees in Pattabishaka Thirukolam. This temple is famous for festivals like Krishna Jeyanthi, Vaikunta Ekadashi, and Hanuman Jayanti.

History of Panchavati Anjaneya Temple

There is a legend behind the temple that Santhanam Iyyangar, who donated the temple land and invited Parama Sri Ramani Anna to visit his land on his way to Chennai. He accepted the invitation and went there. While walking on this land, he experienced the aura of Lord Hanuman through which the deity asked him to build a temple for him there.
