Thyagaraja temple:

Thyagaraja temple is the identity of Thiruvarur and is one of the prominent attractions of Thiruvarur. Lots of people come to Thiruvarur solely to visit this ancient sacred temple. The presiding deity here is lord Shiva, in the form of Lingeshwar. This temple features a large, well-kept garden landscape and covers thirty acres. This temple complex is known as one of the biggest in India.

Koothanur Maha Saraswathi Temple:

This holy temple is situated in Koothanur and is one of the few temples dedicated to the goddess Saraswathi. Goddess Saraswathi is the main deity in a yoga pose, with one leg folded and three eyes. Since Goddess Saraswathi is the Lord of Knowledge, children and students are the visitors to this shrine.

Srivanchiyam Vanchinathar temple:

The specialty of this temple is that The Shiva Lingam at this temple is the oldest self-manifested Shiva Linga in the world. This temple is very serene and serves as a good place for meditation. The fact that Lord Yama Dharma Raja has his shrine and receives daily offerings is yet another unique aspect of this temple.

Muthupet Lagoon:

Paminiyar, Koraiyar, Kilaithankiyar, Marakkakoraiyar, and a few more small rivers that flow into the River Kaveri merge to form Muthupet Lagoon. Beautiful mangrove vegetation surrounds this lagoon, which is a stunning location. A great spot to go bird-watching is this lagoon.

Vadavur Bird Sanctuary:

This bird sanctuary is at a distance of 22 kilometres from Thiruvarur town. This bird sanctuary is one of the finest sanctuaries in India and is suitable for bird watching and wild photography. This sanctuary is a sweet home to 20,000 birds of 38 species. Birds from Europe and North America migrate to Vaduvur in the winter season.
