Kanchipuram widely known as 'City of 1000 Temples' is an old religious city located in the north-eastern coast of Tamil Nadu. This traditional city is encircled by Vellore and Tiruvannamalai in the west, Thiruvallur and Chennai in the north, Villupuram in the South and Bay of Bengal in the east. This city has a lovely coastline that extends to 57 km.

Other than the splendid hand woven silk sarees Kanchipuram is famous for temples. The cuisine at Kanchipuram is also very palatial. The specialty of these silk sarees is that they have some charismatic power that; it makes every woman to fall for it and so it is also called as "Silk city". Kanchipuram is one among the ancient cities of South India. This small city of silk reached its fame during the reign of Pallavas. During the 4th century to 9th century Pallavas made Kanchipuram their headquarters and ruled successfully. During their rule many temple in Kanchipuram were built and they encouraged the exports of silk clothes to other places. Later the kingdom was overtook by Cholas, who later were defeated by Vijayanagara dynasty and finally Kanchipuram fell to the hands of British.

Kanchipuram is hailed as the cultural capital of Tamilnadu. This land of temples is famous pilgrim spot and has lots of famous temples including Sakkiswarar Temple, Vaikunta Perumal Temple, Kailasanatha Temple, Ekambareswarar Temple, Kamakshi Amman Temple.
