Krishnagiri city sprawls over an area of 5,143 sq km. This city is encircled by Vellore and Tiruvannamalai districts in the east and Karnataka in the west, while Andhra Pradesh lies to the north and Dharmapuri in the south.

The name Krishnagiri is derived from Krishna- Black and Giri- hill, as this area is spotted with lots black granite hillock it is named so. Mangani thiruvizha

Mangani thiruvizha is a unique festival, which is celebrated only in Krishnagiri. This festival is celebrated for 23 days in the month of June.

Denkanikottai annual car festival

Denkanikottai annual car festival is a grand festival in Krishnagiri. This festivals is dedicate to lord Vishnu and it lasts for three days

Best time to Visit Krishnagiri is between the months of November to March. As During this season the climate will be moderate.

Krishnagiri experiences scorching climate between the months of February to March. These are the peak summer seasons. Monsoon falls in the months of July to September. During these seasons there would be moderate to heavy rainfall. Winter season falls in the months of November to January. During this period the temperature may fall to 17 degree Celsius.

Krishnagiri has bus frequencies from major cities of Tamilnadu. The nearest railway station is at Hosur.

Krishnagiri has bus facilities from all parts of Tamilnadu. Vellore is located at the distance of 121 kms from Krishnagiri, Erode is at 168 kms, Namakkal is 207 kms, Tirchy is at 256 kms and Chennai is around 256 kms.

Railways:

Krishnagiri did not have its own railways station. The nearest railway station to Kishnagiri is at Hosur at a distance of 47 km. The trains including Puducherry express, Yesvantpur express, Coimbatore express, Lokmanya tt express and Tirunelveli express can be boarded from this station.

Airport:

Krishnagiri does not have an airport the nearest airport is at Bangalore which is 90 kms from Krishnagiri.
