Valluvar Kottam

Valluvar Kottam is a famous monument in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It is dedicated to the famous Tamil poet and philosopher Thiruvalluvar, famous for his work "Thirukkural". 39m high chariot, with the effigy of Thiruvalluvar stands majestically in the centre of the Kottam. This chariot resembles the typical Hindu temple chariots. The remarkable feature of this fort is that all the 1330 verses of Thirukural are engraved on the granite pillars around the hall and this hall can accommodate about 4000 people. The lions carved in entrance of the fort are yet other enchanting features.
